Our Services
We have a 1-800-251-BABY helpline that provides 24-hour access and counselors that can comfort and direct women to the services they need. It’s free and confidential and is staffed by the American Pregnancy Association.
Here are the kinds of things our helpline can help you with:
Pregnancy Tests
We can tell you where to get pregnancy tests.
Prenatal Care
We can let you know who provides prenatal care in your area or find a Public Health Unit near you.
Nutrition / WIC
Partners for Healthy Babies will help you find out where to get WIC services so you can learn more about nutrition and diet before, during and after pregnancy. WIC is a supplemental food program for Women, Infants and Children that is easy to qualify for. Call Partners for Healthy Babies for details.
Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is good for both moms and their babies. Partners for Healthy Babies can give you information on breastfeeding resources in your community and link you to someone (24/7) who can help you get answers to your breastfeeding concerns and questions.
Medicaid
Partners for Healthy Babies can help you get signed up for Medicaid (LAMoms), a federal health insurance program. With Medicaid, a pregnant woman can receive free prenatal care and postpartum care up to 60 days past the time of her delivery.
In addition, Medicaid recently started a new program where Medicaid-eligible pregnant mothers can receive dental help if they have signs of gum disease.
It is easier to get a Medicaid card when you are pregnant. If you want to enroll for Medicaid, you can go to the Parish Health Unit or to a Medicaid enrollment center. Call 1-800-251-BABY (2229) to find out where to go to sign up for Medicaid.
Immunizations (Shots for Tots)
Louisiana has a program called Shots for Tots. The goal of Shots for Tots is to have every healthy child get the required shots by age two. We can let you know where to go to get shots for your child.
Sexually Transmitted Diesease
Partners for Healthy Babies can link you to Parish Health Units and healthcare providers if you think you may have a sexually transmitted disease.
Smoking / Substance Abuse
Partners for Healthy Babies can give you information on programs in your area that help stop substance abuse (smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs).
Other Referrals
Partners for Healthy Babies can give you information on programs in your area that will help with food, social services and mental health.
