Parish Health Units

Parish Health Units provide a range of health services to the community. All provide pregnancy testing, WIC services, immunizations and family planning. There are a range of other services available as well. To find a parish health unit near you click here.

Medicaid and Financial Assistance

  • LaMOMS – Through this program, pregnant women of working families, either married or single, have access to no-cost health care coverage. To find information on how to apply and eligibility visit LaMOMS.
  • LaCHIP – Offers low cost or no cost health care plans for uninsured Louisiana children up to age 19. Eligibility is based on family size and income. Visit LaChip

Child Safety Information

  • KIDLINE – 1-800-CHILDREN (244-5373) is an anonymous, toll-free, statewide telephone service offering crisis intervention, support, parenting information and referrals to community resources within the state of Louisiana. 8AM – 8PM every day.
  • Child Help – National Child Abuse Hotline 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1800-422-4453) Provides information on prevention, treatment and research related to child abuse. Provides support for both children and parents.
  • SafeKids information on injury prevention, car seat safety, bike helmets etc.
    Louisiana Poison Control 1-800-222-1222 – Provides information on poison and drug safety, medical information

Safe Haven

Call 1-800-CHILDREN – If you or someone you know is not ready to take care of a newborn baby, Louisiana’s Safe Haven Law offers parents a safe, legal option. More information regarding the Safe Haven is available by calling toll-free 1-800-CHILDREN (244-5373). Or you can click here for more info.
