Parish Health Units
Parish Health Units provide a range of health services to the community. All provide pregnancy testing, WIC services, immunizations and family planning. There are a range of other services available as well. To find a parish health unit near you click here.
Prenatal Care and Pregnancy Testing
- Parish Health Units provide pregnancy testing, and some provide prenatal care services. More information.
- To find a prenatal Medicaid provider visit the Provider Map Page. This page will let you search for Medicaid services in your parish. If there is no doctor listed in your parish, try searching for doctors in your region or in the parishes around yours.
- You can also call 1-877-455-9955 toll-free for a listing of specialists (including dentists) in your area who are enrolled and active in Medicaid programs.

Medicaid and Financial Assistance
- LaMOMS – Through this program, pregnant women of working families, either married or single, have access to no-cost health care coverage. To find information on how to apply and eligibility visit LaMOMS.
- LaCHIP – Offers low cost or no cost health care plans for uninsured Louisiana children up to age 19. Eligibility is based on family size and income. Visit LaChip
Breastfeeding
La Leche League (LLL), mother to mother breastfeeding support, has useful information for mothers and mothers-to-be. Click on this link for breastfeeding help and resources and to find a LLL group near you.
